2013 Transmission of the Bodhisattvas Precepts at the Dharma Drum Retreat Center, U.S.A.

DDM’s 6th Transmission of the Bodhisattva Precepts concluded at the Dharma Drum Retreat Center in New York on May 19, 2013. The “Transmission of the Bodhisattva Precepts” is a ceremony under which participants vow to undertake various precepts and vows to purify themselves and benefit other sentient beings (for a more detailed explanation, please visit DDM’s webpage). We are delighted to have transmitted the Bodhisattva Precepts to over a hundred practitioners coming from various locations across Canada and the United States, as well as from countries as far as Croatia and Switzerland. Venerable Guo Dong, Abbot President of Dharma Drum Mountain, ac companied by Venerables Guo Qi and Guo Xing, presided over the transmission ceremony with the assistance of the monastics and volunteers from DDMBA and its chapters. more

360 Degree Meditation Retreat

I started getting into Buddhism at the beginning of this year. I had been reading books, participating in chanting sessions at Chan Meditation Center in Queens. Now, You may ask me why there was no meditation on the list. The answer is I was afraid of this profound practice, which I thought I was not ready for, until about three weeks ago. Ven. Chang Di from the Chan Meditation Center handed me an application form for 360 degree Meditation Retreat in up state New York, after one of the chanting sessions. I was extremely flattered by that Ven. Chang Di thought I was ready for the practice of meditation, which finally walked into my life. more

Journey of the Mind through the 7-day Surangama Retreat

2010 Transmission Ceremony of the Bodhisattva Precepts

On July 2-5, 2010, the Transmission Ceremony of the Bodhisattva Precepts was held at DDRC. 75 participants from the United States and Canada received the precepts. A team of 10 monks and 8 nuns, many of whom had traveled overseas especially for the ceremony, were present to support the participants, as well as lay volunteers and trainers. Two ceremonies were held during the event-- the “Transmission of Precepts to the Spirit Realm” and the “Transmission Ceremony of the Bodhisattva Precepts.” more

Thursday Evening Tai Chi Moving Meditation

Every Thursday, 7:30pm to 9:00 pm

Experience the great depth of Chan practice through the combination of Ta-chi with Chan meditation.

The modern people are often busy, stressed and tense. Tai Chi Moving Meditation helps to unify and ease the body and mind.

Moreover, it is an expedient to improve physical health.
